Are you familiar with the previous version of our device-management platform? Are you getting started with our new platform, CTC Admin, and wondering what's new? Technically, the answer is the entire site is new! You'll find it more robust, user-friendly, and intuitive.

New Look and Feel

The user interface (UI) has been updated to be more user-friendly, with a banner at the top and a sidebar menu on the left. It's designed to have a clean look and be easy to navigate.

Global Search

At the top of the CTC Admin screen is a Search box in the site banner. This global Search feature offers you the ability to find accounts, users, assets, devices, and groups. See Using the Global Search Feature for details on how to use it.

In the search results, you'll see  next to the account name. You can click  to switch to viewing that account's data.

Customizable Grid Screens

On CTC Admin grid screens, you can customize the grid layout, including adding or removing columns, rearranging where they are onscreen, and changing which column the grid is sorted by (and its sort order). See Customizing Displayed Columns and Sorting and Rearranging Columns for details.

After you make your configuration changes, you can save them two different ways:

  • Automatically: You can make CTC Admin save grid modifications you make automatically for ALL the application's screens by selecting the Automatically Save Grid Changes toggle in the Preferences area of My Profile.

  • Manually, Screen by Screen: If the Automatically Save Grid Changes toggle of My Profile is deselected, you can save customizations you make to a grid for just the screen you are currently working on by clicking  above the grid.

Improved Devices Screen

You'll find that the Devices screen has been improved with many new features:

  • Viewing details for several devices at once: You can select the check boxes of up to 10 devices and click  above the grid. The Device Details window will appear, with each device's properties appearing on a separate tab at the top. This enables you to quickly compare them.

  • Exporting a large number of devices: You can export more than 10,000 selected devices to a CSV (comma-separated value) file by clicking  above the grid. If the number of devices you are exporting is greater than 3,000, you will be sent the CSV file as an email attachment.

  • Modular search: You can perform a search using multiple criteria and then save the search so that you can quickly find it later. See Searching for Devices for details.

  • More column options: The new Devices screen offers several data fields that weren't available in the legacy device-management platform, including the following:
Note: You can click  above the grid to customize which columns are displayed.
    • EOL: A device will be flagged EOL (end of life) if it has migrated below the minimum firmware version.

    • JPOD Firmware: Shows the current JPOD firmware version on the device.

    • JPOD Config: Shows the current JPOD configuration version on the device.

    • EdgeApp Version: Shows the current EdgeApp or hosted app version.

    • User Defined Mobile ID: Displays a customer-defined identifier, if any.

    • Pending Firmware: Shows any pending LMU firmware version, plus a clickable Job ID link.

    • Pending Script: Displays any pending script version names, plus a clickable Job ID link.

    • Pending JPOD FW: Displays any pending JPOD firmware version, plus a clickable Job ID link.

    • Pending JPOD Config: Displays any pending JPOD config version, plus a clickable Job ID link.

    • Pending EdgeApp/Hosted App: Displays any pending EdgeApp or hosted app, plus a clickable Job ID link.

    • VBUS Status: Contains Off and On values, indicating whether VBUS is enabled or disabled due to CAN (controller area network) errors.

  • Better grid navigation: At the bottom of the grid, you'll see options that enable you to enter the page of results you want to quickly move to and change the number of devices you are viewing.

Bulk Actions and Bulk Activity Status

You can make bulk changes to over 5,000 devices at once by first selecting them and then clicking Bulk Actions above the grid, including moving the devices to a different account, reassigning them to a new group, creating jobs for them, making certain device edits (such as configuration and status), enabling/disabling services, enabling/disabling VBUS, and unpairing them from their assets.

After you have made a bulk update, you can check on its progress by clicking  in the banner. This will launch the Bulk Activity Status window.

Improved Provisioning Module

The Provisioning module has improved Device Files and Jobs features:

  • Excluding parent account files: The Device Files screen now has an Exclude Inherited toggle, which, when selected, will hide files from CalAmp and any parent accounts.

  • Improved process for job creation: Now, when you create a new job on the Jobs screen (see Adding a Job), you add individual tasks to move the files in sequence to your devices:

    • The tasks will be completed in top-to-bottom order.

    • You can set the App ID filter per task for jobs with devices of mixed types.

    • Files will be prefiltered based on what is loaded in the account.

Improved Design for the Reports Screen

The Reports screen now has both Saved Reports and CTC Reports tabs.

The Saved Reports tab shows only tiles for reports you have saved (including parameters) so that you can find them quickly and easily. The CTC Reports tab shows all your available reports. In addition, you'll find these new options:

  • Device Billing: This new report will return a count of all assets and devices tied to an account, plus ESNs and subaccount hierarchy data.

  • Scheduling reports: You can now set reports to be run periodically on a schedule you specify. See Scheduling a Report for details.
